The National Cadet Corps(N.C.C) in Upendra Nath College has an infantry Unit.
1. Aim of N.C.C:
a) To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, Sportsmanship
and ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizens.
b) To create a human resource of organised trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces
who are always available for the service of the nation.
c) To create suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed forces.

3. Enrolment:
a) Enrolment is open to all students who satisfy the standard of Physical fitness.
b) Enrolment forms will be available in the office of the N.C.C. Officer. Enrolment forms duly filled in must reach the N.C.C.
Officer by such date as shall be determined by the N.C.C. Officer and the Principal.
c) 50 Cadets will be enrolled in N.C.C. (including SD & SVV cadets)
4. Training:
a) Training commences in July after the college reopens after the Summer Vacation.
b) Training will be imparted in:
i) Drill
ii) Weapon Training (Rifle, Light Machine gun, Sten gun 2 mortar, Grenade, S.L.R.)
iii) Message writing.
iv) Map reading.
v) Field craft
vi) First Aid
vii) Civil defence
viii) Social Service
5. Clothing and equipment:
a) Clothing and equipment are issued to the N.C.C. cadets.
b) Cadets who are the examinees of C.H.S.E./ University are required to return by the 15th December all clothing and equipment issued to them.
Those who are interested in appearing at the certificate examinations may do so with written permission from the Officer in-charge of N.C.C. and
the Principal and retain the kits till 31st January.
c) Cadets belonging to +21 st year classes are required to return by 28th February all clothing and equipment issued to them.
d) Cadets are required to contribute four rupees each towards the Regimental fund every year and Rs. 107-towards group Insurance (GIS) once during enrolment.
6. Advantages of N.C.C:
a) N.C.C. Cadets can visit countries like Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, Maldives, Nepal, Singapur, Srilanka and United Kingdom through Youth
Exchange Programme (YEP).
b) 500 Scholarships of value Rs.2000/- each are awarded each year to NCC cadets who have excelled aca-demically.
c) N.C.C. organises adventurous activities to develop special qualities of courage, leadership & self confidence among cadets. Some of the activities
are trekking, Rock Climbing, Mountaineering, Para Jumping, Scuba Driving, Water Sinking. Hang Gliding etc.
d) N.C.C. cadets are preferred in recruitment to-
i) Indian Armed Force.
ii) Boarder Security Force.
iii) Central Reserve Police.
iv) Fire Brigade
v) Reserve Police of different states.
vi) Security Officers of different orgnisations (government, Semi-government and Private).
e) Government of India have decided that the N.C.C. cadets in possession of'A and'B' certificate in N.C.C. will be given additional bonus of 5% and
10% marks respectively in recruitment to Central Reserve Police, Boarder Security Force and Indian Army and also in admission to next higher classes.
f) N.C.C. 'C Certificate holders are exempted from appearing in Common Entrance Exam. (CEE and placed on top of merit list if they meet the minimum
laid down criteria of age, educational qualification, Physical and medical aids. They are however, required to pass Physical Fitness Test (PTF)
g) Cadets in possession of'B' and 'C Certificates in NCC get preference in recruitment to the posts of sergeants and Sub- Inspector of Police.
